JSN Sample data

Before and after use JSN Template Sample Data

Working in the web development field for a long time, we often hear about how complex it is to configure a Joomla website. It takes a lot of time to achieve a result like the one presented on the demo site. The process becomes easier when you have some experience.

This inspired us to develop a unique JSM Sample Data function, which automates the whole process of making your newly-installed template look exactly like the one on the demo site. You are not required to have any advanced knowledge about Joomla CMS to use this function.

It should be easy to use.

Before starting to work on this feature, we put the users’ priorities first: understanding their needs and behavior. We put the best practices in usability for developing an intuitive user workflow. Thus, even the a Joomla user with basic knowledge about Joomla! is capable of using the function without any manual configuration. In general, files/packages are uploaded using an FTP client - additional, software which requires extra time and money. We simplified this process through a simple upload form built – in templates. The configuration process happens only in Joomla administration control panel.

No more Joomla CMS re-installation.

Working on the development JSN Sample Data feature is not the hardest question in our work. How much comfort users find in installing sample data is another hard question.

Most template clubs and retailers provide a Joomla CMS package with sample data included. In that way, you have to download the whole Joomla CMS Quick Start Package (about 7 MB), then do all installation steps of Joomla. If you have installed some 3rd party extensions before, you will have to re-install them too. It takes a lot of time and requires advanced knowledge in web development.

What we did is integrated the function “JSN Sample Data” into the JoomalShine templates. You have to download only a light sample data package of around 75KB then use it through the template manager.
Let’s see how the mechanism works.

Installing Sample Data in JoomlaShine Templates

Let’s have a quick tutorial of how to install JSN Sample Data.

  • You already have Joomla! on your computer or server
  • You have already installed one of the JoomlaShine Templates on your Joomla! Administration.

Step 1. Run sample data installer.

Install sample data parameter

Run the function with a simple click

Go to the template settings page and click the button “Install sample data”.

Step 2. Download lightweight sample data package and install it.

After clicking on the button “Install sample data” you will get the exactly the same website as the demo. With this built – in feature the customers can start working with the Joomla Template much easier. All setting parameters are configured in the right way for you. The remaining work is to open the detailed configuration manual then learn the template further.

If you have any thoughts about this great benefit, share it with our readers.

I'm trying the free version of Jsn Teki template for joomla 1.7 and it looks very promising. I'm having an issue in the "install sample data" phase. It takes really long time doing so, and finally don't install.
Can it be something wrong in my Joomla configuration?
    Thanks and best regards,

    Mary Molina

I'm not sure the title is right, building a website don't begin like that, this is guide on how to change your Joomla site template, not build a Joomla Website as the title said

    Hi Trung,

It depends on your understanding of the "building the website. For this article we introduce a great feature "sample data" which allows the user to have the website similar to the demo site.

This it not the guide of changing the Joomla site template. I recommend to try out this feature then spread out the opinion.
