As subject - forum notifications' email traffic is getting rejected;~/
My server log shows that it is sending back an error 450 flag:
450 Host name 182.xxx-yyy-zz.nozonenet.com doesn't match IP address xxx.yyy.zz.182
(actual source information politely disguised)
Please indicate when you or your ISP host expect to resolve the configuration
ie set up a proper reverse PTR (aka rDNS) on your SMTP email server's IP?

At the moment I can catch up with the forum traffic manually by
logging in and viewing directly but I am concerned as to the
expected or possible success of the financial transaction for
product purchase/registration as this too is likely to fail.

Thanks again Robert for tracing out problems. We will check out forum notification problem. So far we have no problem with product purchase/registration processes.

Vic----

I think you were already aware of this tranmission difficulty because the forum's
own registration/acknowledgement process is unusual in that it does not 'check'
the validity of the registrant's suggested email address (goes ahead regardless).
It would have to be set up in this fashion if your email logistics are without
a reverse PTR...

'You' would not have a problem with the product purchase/registration however
'I' am almost certainly likely to have the problem. Is this a difficulty with
the language semantics? I appreciate that English is not your first language.
Absolutely NOTHING at all has arrived here from Joomlashine. I cannot therefore
be reliably certain that the product purchase/registration process will succeed.
It will be this way until you or your ISP fix or otherwise configure a rPTR.

For those reading this thread and wondering just what on earth is the matter...
It's a security or validity thing done between servers - pretty much invisibly.
Most people don't need to worry about it, servers and their maintainers do.
My server is designed to reject any communications transaction attempts that
cannot supply a reverse PTR because of the implied lack of security or validity.
For instance this is very often how a spamming host or ISP is 'configured'...
one specific reason why why my server won't accept a lack of a reverse PTR.
I am quite surprised that a facility expecting to run ecommerce can
accept an internet connection without having a reverse PTR configured.

Meanwhile my server's logs are filling up with failed transaction attempts and
multiple re-transmission attempts (as the forum tries to deliver notifications).

THANK YOU;~)
I've just received a (very old) forum notification.
That probably means you've had your reverse PTR fixed.
I expect I'll get a whole bunch 'catching up' now...

----best wishes, Robert

PostEdit: amended 'reverse DNS' to 'reverse PTR'

The 'replicax...' stuff won't work either;~/

2007-12-18 07:13:34.305686500 31381 450 Host name mail.replicaxstudios.com doesn't match IP address 208.100.xx.yy
How are these people going to be able to properly identify
JoomlaShine email SMTP transaction as being properly yours
ie configuring a reverse PTR pointing back to you?
What with mail.replicaxstudios.com being IP 74.86.xxx.yy

Do you have a timetable for the resolution
of your site's email protocol arrangements?

Tried just after Christmas but put a block on it
to stop all the log noise. The issue won't get
fixed until the 'replicaX' people set up a proper
reverse PTR on their email server's IP or you
(JoomlaShine) get your own dedicated service
(and set up an authenticated reverse PTR).
JoomlaShine is dedicated enough to install its
own name server (!) so I'm having trouble quite
understanding why you're unable to get your
own email server or service.
