View Full Version : Option for each module to be "fixed"

Would it be possible to have a paremeter for each module so that it can be set to "fixed" or "not fixed"?
When a module is set to "fixed", it would mean that if the content being displayed (for all content irrespective of any module) by the browser exceeds the screen size and a browser scroll bar appears, the module would not scroll when the rest of page ("not fixed") is scrolled.
I have experimented with this and it appears very possible so it seemed a natural next-step to have this as a module paremeter per template.
It would also be necessary to set the "fixed" parameter for the top logo area (where JSN EPIC currently appears).

Hi DingoBlue,

This is interesting suggestion. But how do you want to specify the height of modules?

I do not think you need to fix the module height with the possible exception of "mainbody" where I can see an advantage in setting a maximum height to ensure that modules user6, user7 and usere8 were always visible if desired.

The left and right modules will be whatever size the content dictates, they simply won't scroll if "fixed". Modules above the mainbody, which cannot be fixed but could have a maximum height, are typically a predetermined height (header with a slideshow, user 8 which sits "inside" header and so on).

When a designer is deciding to use the fixed option and wants to apply that to modules user1 and user2, they have 2 options - make them the same height, i.e. an image, or live with the consequences of the height being the height of the longest content. The mainbody would then automatically accommodate this which is what I believe happens now.
