I want to be able to work on my site without anyone being able to see it until it is completed. When I hide it through the control panel, the JOOMLA logo appears and I can't see my work in progress. Is there a way to work on it without anyone seeing it until I finish?

One of the best way to do that is going admin control panel of your website -> "Site" -> "Global configuration" -> the parameter "Site Offline = YES".
