Extensions

I am fairly new to Joomla and like your template. What extensions would you recommend to work with your template for an Artists web site? For a picture gallery it would need to display different size images and thumbnails. The site would also include a simple blog and possibly a forum. There are so many extensions out there it is hard to know what to pick. Simple to install and use would be a high priority.
