Default Moving site up one level - J 2.5

I created a 2.5 site in a sub directory. Working fine.
Downloaded the content and uploaded it to top level.
Edited config file to reflect the new position.
    Now I have an error
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '=', expecting '(' in /homepages/25/xxx/htdocs/xxx/includes/framework.php on line 42

Sadly I deleted the content in the sub folder and on re-uploading it to that subfolder (I backed it up first) now I have the same error at this original location too, where all was working fine before.

    Any ideas?

Okay, re-uploading the site caused the php version being used by the database to jump back to a lower version. I re-set this to a higher version (the requirement for J 2.5) and all's well.. Just in case anyone else has this problem!

Have you completed all the necessary amendments to the variable values in the configuration.php file in the joomla_root/

EDIT II any changes you did make do they follow the correct syntax?

    EDIT
Have you amended all references to the location that may exist in extensions or template configurations elsewhere on the site?
