Default Logo parameters in JSN EPIC template V 3.4.

    Hello there,
I was using JSN EPIC V 3.3.6 and it provided the parameters to set the logo file path, file name and size (w x h). But after I updated it to JSN EPIC V 3.4 these options do not show up when I edit the template. Any anyone suggest how to fix this issue.

    Thx!

00023 I have this issue too - removed path in 3.4

The ability to choose the image file type and logo path appears to have been removed in 3.4.

You HAVE to use a png in place dictated by Epic Pro 3.4.

I think this is a backward step and ask if the Joomlashine folks could/would re-introduce this parameter if possible please.

    Regards

    Hi guys,

After detailed analysis of our template utilization examples, we found out that 8 in 10 cases of custom logo is the same file logo.png. So we just decide to remove that parameter to make interface simpler.

It's just easier to prepare your own logo, then upload it to your server overwriting original file and don't bother about any path, size, etc.

If you have permission problems while using FTP, then we strongly recommended you to use great Joomla extension called JoomlaXplorer. You can download it for free from JED at:

    Isn't that better?

    Hi vic,

i am one of two cases, who changed the name of logo file and also size and path.
there are some reasons to get back to the old way:

    1. I am using the modul header-rotator from joomlaworks in a 1.5.x version. As getting a backup-system of my logo - if the modul doesn't work - i was setting the path to the same path as the modul needs.
But i think, this is only for safety, which will normaly not be needed.
    2. Making a template-Update, you will have to delete the old template and install the new one. In this case, you will have to upload the own logo-file to the correct template-path.
    3. The possiblity changing the size has more priority to me. When updating the template to a new version, it is nice not to change the code, because i can set the right size in template-parameters.

Getting more usability for future updates i think i would prefer the old way, setting the logo-parameters in the template-settings.

So please consider about your decision.
    thank you.

00007 Also one that prefers custom

Well I am also one of those that prefer to select a custom logo. And maybe even sizing if ever needed.

Now I do in fact leave the file name as logo just for simplicity but I use a jpeg as logo.jpg since it matters for certain older browsers bugs and a huge file size difference with no noticeable difference in quality even at high resolutions. On some handheld devices it makes the site much slower to load to use even an optimized png file. 300KB vs 70KB. Renaming the .jpg file to .png can also work fine on most browsers but can cause unpredictable problems.

At least I can change the png to a jpg by changing line 45 in the template/index.php file from ?>logo.png" to ?>logo.jpg" I suspect one could add a custom path here as well. (note: this may not be same on the free versions)

I am also 1 of the 2. I use multiple copies of the template in a single site so that I can theme different areas and sometimes have 4 or 5 template versions running. This new method of handling the logo file means I must convert the logo to a png and then make sure I copy it into every template after any template release from you.

Having 1 location is much easier - much prefer the previous version.

Removing a feature is something a backward. If you need to make logo change, find out which directory it's taking the logo from by taking a look at the source html (on firefox, right-click mouse, <view page source>). Search for logo.png on the page (<Ctrl-F>). <img src="/templates/jsn_epic_free/images/blue/logo.png"....Then copy your logo.png file to the correct directory.

This causes all of us having to go thru these procedures every time we update the version since version update by unzipping to the directory will overwrite the logo file.

Removing this custom logo feature should come with an automatic update procedure that keeps the custom logo for us.

But thank you for having a wonderful template.
