6 month ago, I was a Joomla newbie and had no idea about it. I feel that that time was really difficult because I had to learn about something that I've never even heard of before. How to get started and where? Finally, I found it very useful to study with a book, because in a book, all the chapters are put in a logical order from simple to complex. So, Joomla beginners will know the way to work with Joomla as well as apply what they have studied to build a complete website from scratch easier. That's what I want to bring you today; the best Joomla e-books especially for newbies!

1. "Joomla 2.5 - Beginner's Guide"

Joomla ebook | Joomla 2.5 Beginner Guide

Joomla 2.5 Beginner's Guide

This amazing book is written by Hagen Graf and it is totally free for the e-book version. There are in total 25 chapters in the book which will teach you from the most basic things about Joomla 2.5, such as what it is and how to install, to how to work with other parts such as Joomla extensions, articles, categories, users, navigation, templates, modules, plug-ins, etc. Another strength of this book is that it is available in several languages. The various versions are published at http://cocoate.com/ , you can find the book in English, German, Italian, French and Russian. How amazing it is!

2. "Joomla 2.5 Made Easy"

Joomla 2.5 Made Easy

Newly released in June, 2012, Joomla 2.5 Made Easy from Joomlashine is a Joomla newbie-oriented book. It is organized as a step by step guide to build a complete website from scratch. This book is specially written for newbies, so all Joomla knowledge as well as the writing style have been refined to be easy to understand for all beginners. There are in total 7 chapters which guide you from how to install Joomla, how to create a basic website, how to make it live, and protect it against sudden attacks. That's all a newbie like you needs to build your first Joomla 2.5 website successfully. What are you waiting for? Just download and read this free e-book now!

3. "Joomla Explained"

  • Type: Commercial
  • Version: Joomla 2.5
  • [Purchase]

Joomla Explained

Joomla Explained is one of my favorite books. It's really good for newbies to get started. This is a step-by step, very detailed, logical and easy to understand book about all things related to Joomla from small to big, simple to complex. Each chapter in this book is also written carefully and is full of examples, figures, practice exercises, and has very clear concepts and information as well. This book is an official publication of Joomla! so you can be sure of its quality.

The only pity is that it's not free, but you know what, actually, it's certainly worth paying for. Thanks a lot to Stephen Burge and his team for bringing us such a fabulous work!

4. "The best of joomlablogger.net"

Joomla ebook | The best of joomlablogger.net

The best of joomlablogger.net

Joomlablogger.net is such a wonderful blog for Joomla users all around the world and you should read this article to know in depth about this site as well as why you should join the blog. Being a member in this site, you can not only comment on the blog and suggest new topics about Joomla, but you can also download free its book entitled "The best of joomlablogger.net". This book is really hot because there are the most popular blog posts which got lots of attention and were highly rated by the members, such as "Free yourself with Joomla template overrides", "Exploring the Joomla meta tags", "Six steps to get your Joomla site indexed in Google",etc.

This book was written based on version 1.5. However, it doesn't mean everything is obsolete; you will learn a lot from these tips, tricks and information which still apply to version 2.5. That's great to hear that the book will be updated to Joomla 2.5 and will be published soon!

In conclusion

Reading good books can bring you more than entertainment. If you are totally new to Joomla but have always wanted to build a Joomla website for yourself, then I believe that the e-books I have showed you above can be wonderful learning resources for your study besides other ones on the Internet. Enjoy these e-books and get more useful knowledge to make your future website gorgeous - why not right now?

Have you read these Joomla e-books? If yes, how do you feel about them? Let everyone know your ideas by leaving comments here!
