YJ Simple Grid Framework - YouJoomla

yougrid

YJSimpleGrid comes from YouJoomla. Let's see what I got when using it.

It is a cool user experience. YJSimpleGrid is actually very easy to use because of its clear design. With 8 setting panels in total, there are about 100 parameters for you to configure. You are free to customize your template's style, header block, top menu settings, and so on. These parameters won't confuse you since they come with clear tooltips. Another thing that I really love in this framework is its loading speed. It is fast, which is great when trying a large number of parameters; your changes are applied almost immediately. You can take a look at its full features here.

Personally, I think this framework is suitable to build for large websites. It comes with the plugin YJ Mega Menu which helps users to navigate a website more easily. You can download it for free.

YjSimpleGrid framework comes with a video introduction to show you the basic framework configurations. To totally master this framework, you have no option except installing and customizing it as much as possible. You can do it now:

Vertex framework must be the pride of Shape5. This is a good solution for people who want to build a template. Free, fully functional, flexible layouts with attention to detail, such as fonts, social media, etc. Yes, it's enough for newbies as well as developers.

for first-time users. With a clean design and available tooltips, you just need to hover the mouse over the parameter to know what the parameter is for. There are 90 collapsible module positions. You can select a fixed or fluid layout, and they both support responsive design.

XTC Framework - JoomlaXTC

xtc

XTC Framework is built-in in XTC templates, so, if you want to check the performance of this framework, you need to buy a XTC template. Unfortunately, there is no free product to test, so you can check the list of templates here.

After testing XTC framework, I found that it's simple and easy to use it. It provides basic options for users to configure such as Layouts, Grid, Styles, Typography configuration and so on. It can be considered as a good starting point for people who just have less experience in building a template . Simply make your choice for each parameter and you can easily build a new website just as you want.

If you want to create your own unique design, you can utilize the tab "Advanced Options". Of course, a strong knowledge of HTML and CSS is required.

Expose Framework - Themexpert

expose

In my opinion, this is one of the brightest candidates for the best Joomla! framework - Expose from Themexpert. From the first look, you can see that it has a modern design and a well-structured control panel in the back-end. With a deeper look, you can see that it has a comprehensive parameter set and a fast loading speed. It is easy to get started with it, as well as being able to customize it later. It is responsive with 5 display screen sizes, from 480 px (and below) to 1200 px (and up). Expose is continuously updated with new features.

You must install the installation file of the Expose framework together with a Themexpert's template, and it is recommended that you also install the Expose Framework System Plugin to utilize all of its functions.

Both newbies and developers will love this template framework.

Wright Framework - JoomlaShack

js-wright

Wright - a minimalistic framework - is a product from Joomlashack. It is built-in in the templates. With a super simple back-end and code, a responsive design, and a fast loading speed, this framework is designed to assist the upgrading process to new versions of Joomla!. And it was proven when they updated their Joomla! templates to the latest version of Joomla quickly and easily.

Developers might love this Wright framework since it has a solid and simple code base. Besides this, it gives them the freedom to customize their websites without an oriented design . However, newbies might find it unattractive because it only has about 20 parameters which makes it more difficult to customize.

About the documentation; there is some documentation, but I'm not sure it will work well for you, as it is without illustrated images or detailed instructions.

HD Framework - Hyde-Design

hd

HD Framework is a free Joomla template framework, for Joomla! 2.5 and 3.0, developed by Hyde-Design. This is an extra lightweight framework which helps you build your own unique fast loading sites.

HD Framework is a simple, basic imageless template. With HD framework, you don't have a Joomla! backend manager with parameters to configure. It just works with CSS and HTML. The strength of this framework is that because it's extremely simple, there are no redundant features that you don't want to use, so its loading speed is also improved, making it faster than other frameworks.

It's suitable for people who want to try building a template based on native CSS and HTML or more experienced users who want to make a website that is simple but unique.
